Hey! I'm Candace and I'm so glad you're here!
So this is the story all about how my life got flip turned upside down....
I'm the maker and shaker behind the SOAK Bath Co brand. After high school I went into the Bachelor of Commerce program at the Asper School of Business in Winnipeg. Upon graduating I hopped into a full time management career that I loved (most of the time). I began SOAK Bath Co as a side hustle at some point in 2018 and at the end of February 2019 I resigned and worked my last day of my ten year career. Let me tell you, not the easiest decision I ever made. But I was ready to take on my childhood dream.
It's been my dream since as far as I've had memories that I'd be building my own business one day. Since the day I was born my mom and dad were entrepreneurs. Naturally, I took to the lifestyle as I had no idea there was any other option. I like to think I was born an entrepreneur. I made a lemonade stand and hired my brother to help watch the booth - for context, we lived in the middle of the country, off a major highway and people actually just sped up and laughed as they drove by my stand. But it didn't deter me, hours later we'd walk back down the driveway, into the house with an empty lemonade jug that we chugged ourselves. I think one time someone actually stopped and gave us a loonie.. and didn't even take the lemonade. Whatevs. Then there was that time I started a house cleaning business. I knew how to clean and I needed some money for university. Turns out, that is hard, physical work. Kept it up for a year and upleveled for a desk job. Which I despised. Anywho..
I started making soap as a result of getting eczema in my early twenties. I tried every medicated cream the doctor prescribed and couldn't find anything that soothed the pain or helped my dry skin condition. I started doing some research and discovered some natural alternatives. Ba-da-bing-ba-da-boom hours of youtube university later and I was formulating soap bar recipes in mom and dad's kitchen. Over the years my creativity and technique has evolved in soap making specifically. Today's version of my soap artistry looks a lot different than it did years ago. Thanks for hanging out and I love that you're here!
